PURPOSE

This revised Directive provides policy on the rules of behavior for protecting information created,

collected, and maintained by the Corporation.

SCOPE

This Directive applies to all FDIC Divisions/Offices.

SUMMAR Y OF CH ANGES

This Directive supersedes FDIC Circular 1360.9, Protecting Sensitive Information, dated

October 27, 2015.

This Revision:

• Expands the scope beyond solely “sensitive information” and replaces it with a policy of

protecting information commensurate with the risk associated with the inappropriate

access, use, disclosure, or destruction of the information; and

• Streamlines the Directive to decrease unnecessary complexity.
